The Greene County Ram cross country team competed in its second meet of the season Sept. 3, the West Central Valley Invitational in Stuart.
The girls finished second behind Creston, led by freshman Averi Jablonski’s sixth place finish in 23:41.90. Other Ram runners in the team score were junior Rylee Mowrer, 16th place in 31.08.6; senior Evelyn Snyder, 21st place in 33.30.30; junior Cora Powers, 22nd place in 34:06.80; and junior Tatum Tucker, 23rd place, 38:13.30. Freshman Sedona Stevens finished in 26th place in 41.04.70
The first place finisher in the girls race was senior Reese Strunk of Creston with a time of 22:22.20.
The boys finished in third place behind Nodaway Valley, ranked #10 in Class 1A, and Creston, ranked #15 in Class 3A. Junior Nick Black was the first Ram to finish, with a time of 19:24.40, in sixth place. Other Ram finishes were senior Brady Carstensen, 11th place in 20.13.30; junior Tucker Ford, 12th place in 20.13;30; junior Kole Johnson-Peterson, 14th place in 20:23.90; and senior Eli Carstensen, 16th place in 20.31.10 Other Ram finishers were senior Maddox Carstensen, 25th place in 22:51.20; junior Rhys Palmer, 27th place in 22:51.20; senior Raymond Bauer, 31st place, 24:20.70; freshmen Hayden Kinney, 32nd place in 24:22.60; freshman Xavier Mallinger, 41st place in 26:50.80; freshman Jonah Glawe, 58th place in 33:21.20; freshman Egan Durbin, 59th place in 33:41.90; and senior Dexter Ritter, 61st place in 37:52.10.
The first place finisher in the boys race was Creston sophomore Ryder baird with a time of 17:55.10.
“This was a one of the warmest races I can remember,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Temps were in the mid-90’s so this was a great test of the team’s stamina and determination through adverse conditions. This should help us both physically and mentally as the season progresses. We are looking forward to our home meet next Thursday at Spring Lake.”
